ABOUT SALEM FILM FESTIVAL

SALEM FILM FESTIVAL is a project of SALEM CINEMA, THE HISTORIC ELSINORE THEATRE and ALLIED VIDEO PRODUCTIONS in partnership with WILLAMETTE UNIVERSITY & CHEMEKETA COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

VISION:

The extraordinary vision of the founders and partners of Salem Film Festival is to provide a culturally enriching celebration of the art of film and filmmaking. This devoted group of individuals has a deep commitment to the power and beauty of this potent medium and believes it to be at once capable of expanding minds and social awareness, as well as altering cultural experiences and historical perspective. They are driven by passion and seek to both inspire and enlighten. Salem Film Festival strives to mix the familiar with the obscure, the domestic with the foreign, the amateur with the professional and provides a cross-generational, cross-cultural experience for a wide variety of people interested in the art and entertainment of film.

MISSION:

The mission of the Salem Film Festival is to bring exceptional films and filmmakers to Salem for the purpose of showcasing independent film talent, providing educational opportunities for amateur and student filmmakers, fostering film appreciation in the community, strengthening the local economy, and improving Salem’s quality of life. Our goal is to encourage and celebrate the art of film by creating a dynamic forum for artistic, social and cultural awareness in the community. We hope to encourage the appreciation of international film, to cultivate a vibrant local film community of viewers and filmmakers alike, and to provide a platform for independent filmmakers to debut their ideas and grow their careers through networking and showcasing their work.
